On May 11, our intern, Rev. Jett McReynolds graduated from Wesley Seminary. Jett has been with us for three years using his gifts to impact the life of the church in many ways including: the choir, preaching, young adults and the youth.
Jett has already been appointed and begun at a two-point charge (two churches) in Chilhowie Virginia, a part of the Holston Conference. His last Sunday with us will be this Sunday, May 17 and he will be preaching that day. We are having a potluck dessert reception between services. If you would like to bring a dessert, please leave it in the Gathering Space kitchen.
You are invited to contribute to a love gift for Jett. Donations can be made online at our giving link https://www.mountolivetumc.com/giving or by using the offering envelope in the pew rack on Sunday (for either, please designate Jett Love Gift). Thanks!

With the opening of the fireside, closed for three-and-a-half years due to fire damage, this Easter season at Mount Olivet feels especially joyful and purposeful. This is a time of gathering and celebrating, of rebuilding and re-envisioning. Who are we as a community of faith? How are we growing? What are our hopes and dreams, and how can we serve our neighbors and strengthen our connections?
With these questions in mind, Pastors Sara, Jett and Stephanie will be preaching and leading a study on the biblical book of Acts, a work by the gospel writer, Luke, detailing the birth and expansion of the early church. Please join us.
What: Study of Acts (reading, discussion, application)
When: Starting April 30, Thursdays, 7:15 – 8:30 pm for five weeks
Where: Zoom (link to follow)
How to prepare: Read the assigned chapter(s) for that week (details to come)
Contact Pastor Stephanie to register for the class or if you have any questions.

Mount Olivet’s Senior Adult Book Group meets via Zoom at 10 AM on the first Wednesday of each month. Books the group will discuss next are:

We are deeply grateful to everyone who has pledged and continues to give faithfully to Mount Olivet. Thanks to the generosity of our congregation, giving has increased compared to last year. This growth has enabled us to keep pace with rising expenses and continue supporting the mission and ministry of our church.
As we reflect on “Why Church” and give thanks for being fully open again, we would love to hear how God’s presence is evident in your life. If you feel led to share, please follow this link. Share Your Story
Whether your experience was big or small—a quiet reassurance, an answered prayer, or an unexpected blessing—your story can encourage and uplift others in our community. Please consider sharing so we can celebrate together how God is at work among us.

The Mount Olivet Foundation offers zero-interest student loans and need-based grants for secondary education. You may have received a brochure in the mail detailing other ways the Foundation supports students and community organizations. See our website for more information.

Are you consistent about putting your aluminum cans in the correct bin? Unlike plastic bottles that may or may not ever be recycled, aluminum cans save municipalities money, save resources, and can be back on the shelf with new product in about 60 days. States that require deposits on cans have a much higher recycling rate than states–like Virginia–that don’t.
