What is Confirmation?

The rite of Confirmation is a time-honored practice within the Methodist Church and many denominations where youth enter a period of learning and discernment. Through the process they are taught many of the basic elements of the Christian Faith and invited to consider what God’s call upon their life may be. It ends with a celebration and confirmation of their faith in Jesus Christ and full membership into the life of their given congregation.

Schedule

Our confirmation cohort for Spring 2024 will run from Feb 25 to May 19 and gather on Sundays from 4:30 - 5:30 PM. There are a few Saturday sessions that will be activity oriented on March 16, April 20, and May 11 that will run from 3-5 PM.

Confirmation Sunday will be May 19 on Pentecost

When will regular gatherings be?
Our gatherings will occur directly before the Youth group from 4:30 - 5:30 in the Youth Area at Mount Olivet. There are a few Saturday sessions that serve as interactive capstones of the content we explore. The full list of dates is:

  • Sundays 4:30 - 5:30 PM: Feb 25, March 3, 10, 17, April 7, 14, 21, 28, May 5
  • Saturdays 3-5 PM: March 16, April 20, May 11

Who is Eligible?

Our cohort is open to all 8th grade youth and above who have not been confirmed.

What Will Students Discuss?

There are a variety of lessons and topics ranging from the Bible, Major Doctrines, the Sacraments, and elements of Church History. All of our lessons are read through a lens of Methodist Theology and an understanding based on the grace we have come to know in Jesus Christ. All questions are encouraged and welcomed.
