Learn more about how to manage stormwater runoff at home or in your community--to slow it down (avoid erosion), spread it out (filter pollutants), and soak it in (maintain moisture). To counteract the pervasive impervious surfaces in the County, learn about planting native trees and shrubs in conservation landscaping and in rain gardens, installing rain barrels and permeable pavers, and participating in invasive plant removals and stream cleanups. These actions not only benefit local streams and the Potomac River, but you can get credit to reduce your stormwater utility bill. The credits are available to the individual homeowner and to properties such as places of worship, businesses, and those of nonprofit organizations.
